No doubt, buying good HDTV is a difficult job to do than simply walking to any showroom and select one. One must follow a set of buying guide for purchasing HDTV.
Before heading towards any showroom, make sure that you do your homework very well. Check out the reviews of HDTV from newspaper, magazines and internet. Very few sites actually discuss correct features of HDTV, so make sure that you read elaborately on this. Check out every model of HDTV from the manufacturer’s site and if you are getting manual online, go through it very carefully. In the market you will find three kinds of retailers. First, that has big showroom that may not find it important to discuss every single detail of HDTV, as they have many customers to handle. Second, medium size showroom that may highlight only special features of HDTV and last small size showroom that normally will spend a lot of time with customers explaining them the necessary pros and cons.
In most of the stores, you will find continuous running demos on HDTV’s, but don’t get impressed by the looks. Such ads are designed in such a way that every television shows perfect quality of videos. If you are looking for HDTV, make sure that every single HDTV available in the showroom shows same video content at the same time. Ignore animated videos, artificial images as they cannot show the exact video quality of any HDTV. You may find the brightness and contrast perfect at first sight but that may not be true. Try to check out all the important features of HDTV that you want to purchase. Many HDTVs deliver analog feature instead of digital. Apart from having cheaper cost, analog may face various issues that can directly affect picture quality of the television. Never judge video quality of any HDTV by its video content, instead go for image slide show as it works best if you are checking out picture quality. By looking at image slide show in all the HDTVs available in the showroom, you can very easily select the one that you are looking for your home. You can bring your own photos too in pen drive to check them in HDTV via USB port. Ask for remote to a sales person and set TV to cinema mode and then check out your images.
Try to avoid HDTVs that have glossy screen as they may produce ripples in the image when they are not glued properly. You can check out for the ripples when screen is turned to black. You can bring black picture along you by click a snap with camera lens off. In this way you can check out for the ripples in HDTV. In HDTVs picture changes with change in viewing angles, especially in case of LCDs it can be seen every easily but plasmas may have minor effects. In this case too, you can use black photo to check out at different viewing angles. Most of the HDTV has fan noise problem that cannot be heard in noisy store. So try to look out for this issue too, as we don’t want you to get shocked when you hear the same noise at home.
Small efforts like checking out every important feature of HDTV in manual and practically on television can actually help you in investing your money on the best quality HDTV.
